The university of Warwick celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2005. It has recently been ranked as one of the top 5 universities in the UK by the Guardian newspaper and is the top ranked university in the Midlands and was placed 7th in the Times University League Table 2007 and is the highest in the Midlands. In the last government research assessment exercise, Warwick was rated fifth for research excellence, with 25 out of 26 departments achieving the top 5 or 5* rating. In the 2007 Times Higher Education Supplement world-rankings of universities, Warwick was placed at number 57. The University of Warwick Business School Executive MBA has been ranked in the top 10 in the World and top 3 in Europe by the Financial Times. The Business School itself is ranked as 9th best in the world.

The University of Warwick has a student population of around 16,600 undergraduates and postgraduates and attracts students from all over the world. Typically, Warwick receives around 30,000 applications for just over 3,000 undergraduate places. Entrance requirements are high - typically AAA.

The University's acclaimed position as a leading university has been its consistency in high quality teaching and research. Warwick was the first research-led university to give priority to widening participation and to lifelong learning and cultivates close and productive links with the local and regional community. The university has a long tradition of working in collaboration with business and industry and plays an active role in economic regeneration.

The university also boasts the largest Arts Centre outside London, a lively modern campus, high quality, purpose-built, on-campus accommodation for both undergraduates and postgraduates at competitive prices, first class facilities on-campus for indoor and outdoor sports and over 200 clubs and societies organised by a dynamic Students' Union.
