Healthcare in Coventry has entered a new era.


Hospitals

Healthcare provision in the area has entered a new era with the opening of a new 'superhospital', University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire. The £400 million facility offers world-class facilities and service to over 1 million people in Coventry and Warwickshire.

The hospital is one of the UK's largest teaching trusts and is the principal teaching hospital for Warwick University Medical School, where together they develop innovative medical education programmes and clinical research.

The hospital has 1250 beds and 27 operating theatres and its 'super' facilities include:
  • purpose built helicopter landing pad
  • PET CT Scanner
  • stringent infection control systems
  • patient entertainment systems
  • cutting edge medical equipment
Coventry University Hospital
Elsewhere in the area, Warwick Hospital, Rugby St Cross and George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton provide a full range of healthcare and emergency facilities.


Private healthcare

Coventry and the sub-region is home to four private healthcare hospitals.

The Meriden Hospital is the newest addition to BMI Healthcare, situated within the grounds of the University Hospital. The hospital has 48 bedrooms, consulting rooms, outpatient clinic and various other suites.

BMI Health Care also operates the Nuneaton private hospital and the nearby Priory hospital in Birmingham. In addition there is the Nuffield Hospital in Warwick, which has 43 bedrooms and offers a comprehensive range of specialist treatments and services.


Local services

It easy to register with a GP, dentist or other health service providers in the Coventry area. In Coventry there are many NHS dental surgeries accepting new patients as well as many private practices.


NHS Walk-In Centre

For minor illness or injury, you can visit Coventry's NHS Walk In Centre rather than your GP or Accident and Emergency. You don't need an appointment and they are staffed by a team of qualified staff.
