Coventry City Council places educational excellence at the heart of its corporate agenda and recognises the essential role it plays in raising standards, improving skills, enhancing employment prospects and increasing economic prosperity. Coventry has received more than £300 million from the Building Schools for the Future programme. This will be used to deliver up to eight new secondary schools with the remainder being remodelled or refurbished.

Nursery, pre school, and early years

Returning to work or finding childcare in a new area can be a daunting prospect. The Coventry Children's Information Service is here to make it easier for you to make the right choices for you and your family.

The dedicated team provides free and impartial advice and information on registered childcare including childminders and private and state run nurseries, advice on average costs as well as any financial assistance that may be available.

Currently 61 primary schools operate LEA nursery classes, providing free early years education for children over three. Nursery education is also available at a selection of private day and state operated nurseries.

Moat House Primary School

Primary schools

Many of the schools provide 'wraparound' at the start and end of the school day.

A full guide to admissions is available on the council website.

Special educational needs

The Council is committed to the principle of inclusion and to ensuring that all children and young people have a real chance of achieving their full potential. There are eleven special schools in the city providing education and meeting the needs of children of all ages and with moderate or severe learning difficulties.

Independent schools

The Coventry and Warwickshire area has a selection of some of the best independent schools in the country. Senior, junior, boarding and day, co-educational and single sex, selective and all-ability, there is a school to fit your child's needs. The Coventry Schools Foundation is a group of five schools in Coventry, offering education for children from three to 18 years.
